I.2. DEAD in Sin: our practical state

Introduction:

• Evangelists tell us that coming to Christ is the easiest thing in the world; as simple as ABC (Accept, Believe, Confess)
• Jesus tells us coming to Christ is absolutely impossible (John 6:44; 11:43)

1. Human Inability

• a) Seared conscience
• b) Depraved affections
• c) Darkened mind
• d) Obstinate will

“Evangelists say “All men may be saved if they will,” and that is true. But they won’t!”

2. Divine Ability

“Inability is no excuse for inactivity. It may be true that I cannot come to Christ; but there are many things that I can and must do.”

Conclusion: The rich young ruler (Mark 10:23-27)

• With man it is impossible
• Salvation requires repentance and faith
• With God all things are possible
